Mayor Donna L. Olson

Elected April 6th 2010, Donna L Olson is the current mayor of Stoughton, WI.

I grew up on a dairy farm in Gays Mills, Wisconsin along with four brothers and one sister. Randy and I met in high school and married on July 30, 1977.

We moved to Stoughton in October 1977 when Randy began working at Universal Silencer, then a part of Nelson Industries. Randy has worked at Universal Acoustic & Emission Technologies since that time and in October 2007 became a part owner when Universal Silencer separated from Cummins Industries. We have 2 beautiful daughters, Andrea and Jessica. Andrea owns her own business in Monona and lives in Madison. Andrea, Chad and their beautiful baby girl Boston live on the east side of Madison. Jessica, Ryan and 3 wonderful sons Bennett, Lincoln and Jackson live in Evansville.

I began working for the City of Stoughton in 1995 as a part-time receptionist. I transferred to a full-time position in the Clerk’s office in 1996. The Administrative Assistant to the Mayor position was created 1997. I assisted the Mayor, Robert Barnett and then Helen Johnson, in a multitude of roles.

The first major task was working with the Opera House Board to complete the renovation, plan for the re-opening and operations of the venue. I have worked with many volunteers, businesses, staff and organizations to address the needs of the Mayor’s office, community and city government. Leadership experience gained in that role by facilitating the many committees, boards and community initiatives prepared me to serve as Mayor.
